Telegram trade alerts to broker orders

Connect a Telegram group or channel you run to Nyria, check its alerts on paper, then trade them live at Charles Schwab, Tradier, tastytrade or Alpaca.

Nyria's bot reads the chat, and every bot on the strategy places the order at its own broker. It won't open a position from a stale message, so an alert Telegram delivers late can't put you into a trade at a price that's gone.

What you need

  • A Telegram account that owns the group or channel, or is an admin there who can add admins.
  • A Nyria account. Paper trading is free, needs no card and has no time limit.
  • For live orders, an account at Charles Schwab, Tradier, tastytrade or Alpaca.

Step by step

1. Pick Telegram as the source

In Nyria, select Create strategy and pick Telegram as the alert source.

Select Connect Telegram. Telegram opens a chat with @NyriaAlertsBot. Press Start, which sends the bot a /start message carrying a code for your Nyria account. Then tap Link in the bot's reply. The reply names the Nyria account it links, so check that it's yours.

3. Add the bot to the chat

Back in the strategy form, select Add Nyria to a group or Add Nyria to a channel, then pick the chat in Telegram. Telegram asks you to make Nyria an admin. Nyria asks for one admin right, manage chat. It only reads messages and never posts.

On Telegram Web, add @NyriaAlertsBot to the group yourself, then make it an admin.

4. Pick the chat and set filters

Pick the group or channel in the strategy form, and Nyria checks that you run it. Two optional filters narrow what it reads:

  • Author: part of the sender's display name, for a chat where several people post.
  • Keyword: text every alert carries, for a chat where alerts share space with conversation.

5. Check the format on real messages

The strategy's Alert format card previews recent messages from the chat. Nyria can't see messages posted before it joined, so in a new chat post one test message for each trade type the strategy uses. Assign each to Long entry, Long exit, Short entry or Short exit and check what Nyria read from it. The strategy goes Active when every type it uses has a message Nyria can read.

6. Deploy on paper, then go live

On the strategy, select Deploy bot. If the switch at the top says Live, select Paper. Set Budget per entry, select Next, then Deploy on Nyria Paper.

When the paper orders match the alerts, deploy a bot on your live account. Live trading costs $100 a month per $10,000 of total entry allocation, the sum of every live bot's budget per entry.

The 60-second rule

An alert that Nyria handles more than 60 seconds after it was posted, or after a newer message from the chat for the same strategy, places no new entry. A close in it still runs, and the strategy log says why.

An entry placed minutes late is a different trade from the one that was called, so Nyria doesn't take it. A late close still runs, so you aren't left holding a position the caller already left. Alerts go late when Telegram delivers messages late after an outage, or when Nyria retries an alert it couldn't process. To take the entry anyway, post the alert again.

How Nyria reads a Telegram alert

Telegram alerts are free text, read the same way as Discord alerts. Every alert needs a ticker, a direction and an action:

long SPY here
BTO SPY 12/18 580C

On a strategy set to Provided in alert, the second buys that exact contract: the SPY 580 call expiring 12/18. On From my rules, the strategy picks the contract by delta, by a number of strikes from at-the-money, or as an offset from another leg, with up to 4 legs on one expiration.

The same message posted twice within 30 seconds places one order. Each order is sized by the bot's budget per entry. Edits are not traded: Nyria acts on a message as it was first posted, so to correct an alert, post a new one.

Limits today

  • Messages that other bots post in a group aren't read. A bot that relays alerts can post them in a channel where Nyria is an admin instead.
  • Nyria doesn't see messages posted before it joined the chat.
  • Live orders go to Charles Schwab, Tradier, tastytrade and Alpaca. Webull, TradeStation, Binance, Binance US, Coinbase, Coinbase US and Tradovate are coming soon, with no date set.
  • No futures or forex, and no bracket, OCO or trailing-stop orders.
  • No daily-loss cap. A bot keeps taking alerts after a losing day until you pause it.
