Features

Spot Trading

Direct cryptocurrency ownership:

  • Buy and hold crypto assets
  • Fractional quantities supported
  • No leverage, no liquidation risk
  • Instant settlement

Perpetual Futures

Leveraged positions without expiration:

  • Long and short positions
  • Leverage up to 10x (varies by pair)
  • Funding rates every 8 hours
  • Liquidation risk based on leverage

Supported Pairs

Coinbase uses USD pairs:

  • BTC-USD, ETH-USD, SOL-USD, etc.

Nyria automatically converts between USDT/USDC pairs and Coinbase's USD pairs. Your strategy can use BTCUSDT, and Nyria will trade BTC-USD on Coinbase.

Position Sizing

Crypto supports fractional quantities:

  • Fixed $100 budget with BTC at $50,000 = 0.002 BTC
  • Minimum order sizes vary by pair
  • Fractional precision up to 8 decimal places

Symbol Formatting

Nyria handles symbol conversion automatically:

  • Your Strategy: BTCUSDT, ETHUSDT
  • Your Alert: BTC, BTCUSD, or BTCUSDT
  • Coinbase API: BTC-USD, ETH-USD

Fees

  • Spot Trading - 0.4% taker, 0.6% maker (varies with volume)
  • Perpetual Futures - 0.05% taker, 0.02% maker
  • Funding Rates - Paid/received every 8 hours on perpetuals

Leverage (Futures Only)

Set leverage in your strategy configuration:

  • Long Leverage - Applied to long positions
  • Short Leverage - Applied to short positions

Leverage is automatically applied when placing futures orders.

Liquidation Risk

Higher leverage = closer liquidation price:

  • 2x Leverage - Liquidated at ~50% move against you
  • 5x Leverage - Liquidated at ~20% move against you
  • 10x Leverage - Liquidated at ~10% move against you

Monitor your positions closely with leverage. Crypto markets are volatile and liquidations happen fast.

Limitations

  • No stock or options trading
  • Lower leverage limits than Binance (10x vs 125x)
  • Fewer trading pairs than Binance
  • No testnet/paper trading

Troubleshooting

"Insufficient balance"

Check your available USD balance. For futures, ensure margin covers the leveraged position size.

"Pair not supported"

Coinbase has fewer pairs than Binance. Verify the pair is available on Coinbase Advanced Trade.

"Leverage exceeds maximum"

Coinbase limits leverage by pair. Reduce leverage in your strategy configuration.

"Position would be liquidated"

Your entry price would result in immediate liquidation. Reduce leverage or position size.

Security

  • Enable 2FA on your Coinbase account
  • Use API keys with minimal permissions
  • Regularly review API key activity
  • Revoke unused API keys
